This week, mum of two Alli joined us from her home in far northern Australia.
鈥淲e chose 黑料网 because we live in a remote location,鈥� says Alli, whose two children are in Years 8 and 10. 鈥淚 thought, while we have a choice locally, I really loved that you guys are able to vet a large number of applicants and really choose people who are most qualified.鈥�
The quality of 黑料网 tutors and their impact on her children鈥檚 learning has been the biggest factor in Alli鈥檚 decision to continue with regular sessions for each of her children.
鈥淚 think it鈥檚 the tutors themselves 鈥� the way that they engage with my children. They [the tutors] never make them feel like they are stupid or wrong or struggling. They help them see how they can improve and elevate what they鈥檙e doing, and always acknowledge the good that they saw in the session.鈥�
On using technology as a tool for learning…
Far from acting as a barrier to learning, technology offered Alli鈥檚 children flexibility, which in turn shaped their attitude and willingness to log on each week.
鈥淭he reason 黑料网 works for us is that [my kids] can be doing something right up until the time before they鈥檙e tutoring. Here they are, they can just log on. When it鈥檚 over they can turn it off, we can have dinner, we can get on with our lives. So there鈥檚 a big convenience factor.鈥�
鈥淚 also like that there鈥檚 video and a shared workspace. It wasn鈥檛 audio-only or skype-only. There鈥檚 a lot of technology wrapped around it.鈥�
Measuring the effectiveness of 黑料网 tutoring鈥�
Alli argues that a shift in the attitude of her son and daughter has been the most significant measure of their progress. 鈥淚n general I鈥檝e seen an improvement. My kids are more willing to sit down and give it a go. My son in particular is willing to take a stab at it. I think that鈥檚 a big success.鈥�
鈥淚t鈥檚 not because I鈥檓 working with him 鈥� he doesn鈥檛 enjoy working with his parents on his writing 鈥� it鈥檚 because of his tutor.鈥�
In the end, Alli feels that the one-on-one attention her children receive with 黑料网 builds their confidence and offers her family peace of mind that they鈥檙e covering the topics outlined in the Australian National Curriculum.
鈥淚 love that for a full hour, there鈥檚 somebody focused on improving my child鈥檚 skills in an area that really matters.鈥�
